Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine anticipates receiving a new tranche of financial support from the European Union in the near future. This assistance is crucial as Kyiv continues to address its budgetary and defense needs amid ongoing conflict. Last week, Ukraine received €3.3 billion for weapons, and the country is now awaiting further EU budget support.
In a meeting with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Odile Renaud-Basso, Zelensky discussed not only financial backing for Ukraine’s defense but also for its energy sector and the protection of critical infrastructure. The discussions extended to potential assistance for Ukrainian exporters and domestic producers, including farmers, highlighting the broader economic challenges facing Ukraine.
Zelensky also detailed Ukraine’s defense strategy, noting that the country has finalized its long-range defense priorities for October. These plans include ongoing long-range military operations and preparations for the supply of additional F-16 aircraft by the end of the year, underscoring Ukraine’s strategic military planning.
Moreover, Ukraine is advancing its efforts to counter aerial threats from faster, jet-powered Shahed drones. Zelensky stated that initial prototypes of an interceptor system have been selected, with production goals, funding, and timelines currently under development, reflecting the adaptive nature of Ukraine’s defense technology initiatives.
