Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk is set to visit Việt Nam from October 24 to 26, aiming to bolster bilateral ties in various sectors including trade, education, science, culture, and political relations. This visit, made at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng, underscores the ongoing efforts by both nations to deepen their longstanding partnership.
The diplomatic relationship between Việt Nam and Poland dates back to February 4, 1950, and has grown over the years through continuous dialogue and cooperation. In 2025, both countries celebrated the 75th anniversary of their partnership, highlighting the strong bonds they have fostered over decades.
Tusk’s upcoming trip follows the official visit by former Vietnamese Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính to Poland in January 2025, during which both nations expressed a commitment to elevate their relationship to a strategic partnership. This diplomatic effort is mirrored by the steady increase in trade between the two countries, which reached approximately $3.94 billion in 2025, marking a 14.8% rise from the previous year.
Việt Nam primarily exports electronics, machinery, garments, footwear, coffee, and other agricultural products to Poland, while Poland provides machinery, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and food products to Việt Nam. Tusk’s visit is expected to further explore economic opportunities and foster cooperation in these key sectors.
In addition to economic ties, the visit is likely to enhance collaboration in education, scientific research, and cultural exchanges, reflecting both countries’ aspirations for a comprehensive partnership. This emphasis on multifaceted cooperation aims to advance shared economic and diplomatic interests, reinforcing the already robust relations between Việt Nam and Poland.
