Digital Strategies Fail to Resolve PiS Leadership Dispute

-

The recent meeting between Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of Poland’s Law and Justice (PiS) party, and former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki concluded without resolving the ongoing disputes within the party. The gathering highlighted the persistent divisions plaguing the main opposition group in Poland, with no immediate breakthrough achieved during the talks.

In an effort to address the internal discord and restore unity, PiS Member of the European Parliament, Piotr Müller, announced the presentation of 21 compromise proposals. These proposals, according to Müller, were designed to demonstrate the party’s goodwill and commitment to bolstering the centre-right political faction. He emphasized that the proposals were crafted to rebuild trust and strengthen the party’s position.

Müller also took a moment to defend the Rozwój Plus association, asserting it was established to broaden the appeal of the centre-right and attract a wider voter base. He addressed concerns regarding the financial aspects of the organization, noting that these issues had been reviewed through legal opinions, ensuring compliance and transparency.

Despite the willingness to negotiate and achieve consensus, Müller made it clear that certain conditions were unacceptable. He rejected the notion of signing loyalty pledges or declarations, which he described as humiliating. He stressed that the focus of PiS should remain on developing effective policies and achieving electoral success, rather than becoming entangled in internal conflicts.
